Engineering Manager - Sports Domain

TLDR

Lead two engineering teams to deliver the Sportsbooks platform, focusing on Trading and Feeds Integration, driving architecture and engineering excellence.

ABOUT THE ROLE

LeoVegas Group is building something special – a world-class team dedicated to creating the best Sportsbook platform in the market through cutting-edge technology and innovative gaming experiences. To lead the charge, we're searching for a passionate and driven Engineering Manager who will lead two existing teams in Poland and Spain, focusing on the Sportsbooks platform domain, specifically responsible for Trading and Feeds Integration.

YOU WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR:

  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to a team of senior engineers. While not directly coding on a daily basis, you will contribute your expertise to architectural discussions, guidance for the teams, and the establishment of engineering best practices.

  • Champion a culture of engineering excellence by defining and implementing processes that enhance code quality, development efficiency, and team collaboration.

  • Lead with a people-first approach. You will be responsible for all aspects of people management, including performance evaluations, development plans, 1:1s, and fostering a positive and empowering work environment.

  • Collaborate closely with product management to provide technical insights and contribute to the definition of product roadmaps, ensuring alignment between engineering capabilities and business goals.

  • Coordinate cross-team dependencies and deliver on time. Lead the projects that you own, and support projects led by other teams.

OUR SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE THE FOLLOWING:

ESSENTIAL SKILLS

  • Solid engineering background, spending at least 5+ years working as an engineer (preferably Java or any other object-oriented backend technology)

  • Experience with microservices-based products and message brokers (we use Kafka)

  • At least 3 years of experience as an Engineering Manager or Team lead

  • People management experience (leading 121s, performance evaluations, etc.)

  • Experience with agile methodologies and goals

NICE TO HAVES

  • Experience managing more than one single team

  • Experience managing remote teams

  • Experience working with a high load of real-time data

  • Experience working with external data providers
