This position reports to:

Operations Manager, Motion Service

In this role, you will have the opportunity to execute service work with low to medium complexity as per work instructions and in accordance with ABB standard processes, quality standards, and safety guidelines. Each day, you will plan and execute work on a first-time right approach with customers. You will also showcase your expertise by displaying a clear sense of urgency and care in your own area of responsibility.

Your Role and Responsibilities

In this role, you’ll help run what runs the world, by taking on meaningful work that drives real impact.

Work Model: Hybrid (on-site and remote support)

  • Working with the customer (while on-site) to identify opportunities to improve the customer's operations and eliminate pain points.

  • Performing field service tasks, identifying technical issues, and performing analysis through remote or on-site activity in service categories and products.

  • Preparing material lists needed for service activity and ensuring that all materials, parts, and equipment are available and of appropriate quality for service activities.

  • Troubleshooting equipment/process failures, requesting proactive corrective actions, and making recommendations to avoid such issues in the future.

Qualifications for the Role

  • You have proven experience in field service engineering or maintenance of rotating electrical machinery (motors, generators, or equivalent industrial equipment).

  • Advanced skills and 3+ years of experience in troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of electric motors, generators, or related power transmission equipment.

  • You are highly skilled in using diagnostic tools, electrical testing equipment, and CBM (Condition-Based Monitoring) methodologies.

  • Demonstrated expertise in interpreting technical documentation, schematics, and electrical drawings related to motors and generators.

  • You are passionate about customer satisfaction, problem-solving, and delivering high-quality service in a safety-conscious manner.

  • You hold a relevant engineering qualification (City & Guilds Level 3, BTEC, HND/HNE, or equivalent in electrical/mechanical engineering).

  • You are fluent in English and able to communicate effectively with customers and internal teams. Valid UK work authorisation is required.
