Front of House Manager - Gatehouse Theatre, Stafford

We are looking for an exceptional individual to lead the Front of House team at The Stafford Gatehouse Theatre. You will have a passion for people and excellence in customer services and a desire to play a key role in the Senior Management team of the theatre. You will lead on all aspects of Gatehouse’s Front of House operations, have a proven track record in delivering excellent customer service and leadership and you will work closely with the theatre manager to evaluate and review all front of house operations at the theatre in order to improve the organisation from a customer’s point of view. You will be responsible to the theatre manager, be responsible for the front of house managers, duty officers, ushers and a large team of fantastic volunteers and you will work closely with the other members of the Senior Management team and Freedom Leisure.

The Front of House Manager is responsible for the smooth and efficient day to day running of the Gatehouse Theatre’s front of house operations as well as the identification and implementation of long term strategies for Front of House management development. They lead and develop the team of casual duty managers, ushers and a team of volunteers, in both their activity and their approach, to provide at all times a safe, warm, friendly and vibrant environment for audiences, visitors and staff. Alongside the Box Office Supervisor, Catering Manager and Theatre Manager, they take a lead role in maintaining excellent customer services.

The Front of House Manager works closely with other departments within the theatre including marketing, technical, box office, café bar and events.

Hours: 40hrs a Week - Monday to Sunday - Rota Basis

Requirements

  • Proven experience of leading a front of house team in an arts venue.
  • Experience in staff supervision.
  • Excellent proven customer service skills.
  • Ability to exercise initiative, take personal responsibility and resolve issues independently.
  • A positive, solution focused attitude to work.
  • Excellent verbal and interpersonal and good written communication skills.
  • High level of IT literacy (MS Office)
  • Good administrative skills with the ability to maintain systems and records.
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety and licensing law and regulations with experience of implementing and monitoring safe working practices.
  • An understanding of access and disability issues
  • An interest in the arts, learning and leisure industry and an enthusiasm for working in a socially engaged and culturally diverse environment,
  • Flexibility in relation to duties and working hours which will include evenings and weekends
  • Strong organisational, time management and prioritisation abilities working effectively under pressure and the flexibility to adapt quickly to demands
