General Counsel

To support our company’s rapid growth, Pendo is looking for a General Counsel to shape the global legal strategy and set the framework for the business’ continued expansion. This individual will be a strategic member of our senior leadership team and be responsible for effectively balancing risk against critical business objectives. They bring a business oriented perspective to legal issues and creativity to problem solving. We are looking for someone that has demonstrated leadership capability, is passionate about supporting our growth objectives, and will chart the direction on a broad spectrum of legal, compliance and business issues for both our legal team and the broader business.

 Responsibilities (what you'll do):

• Direct all aspects of global legal affairs at Pendo and ensure business standards, policies and activities are well-managed in compliance with current laws.
• Stay abreast of changes to law and regulations and advise management about any impact to the business.
• Provide guidance to management on complex business transactions and company-wide initiatives.
• Ensure that all company communications, contracts, documents, filings and press releases undergo appropriate legal review.
• Proactively anticipate legal issues .
• Manage outside counsel.
• Grow and mentor an internal legal team of business-oriented legal professionals.

Qualifications (what you have):

• J.D. degree;  admitted to one state bar and in good standing to practice law (e.g., have registered in-house status).
• 10+ years of relevant legal experience, ideally at a well-regarded law firm followed by senior in-house experience preferably in the technology industry.
• Overall broad legal knowledge (corporate law, M&A, litigation, employment law, data privacy, compliance, etc.).
• In-depth understanding of various legal issues’ impact on a growth stage, venture backed company.
• Proven experience building and leading successful teams.
• A track record of being highly accountable and driven by setting the foundations for the strategic direction of a fast-growing company.
• Ability to simplify complex legal concepts and terms with a focus on critical business outcomes.
