Head of Growth Marketing
TLDR
Build the first growth function, owning qualified pipeline through ABM, multi-channel campaigns, experimentation, and customer expansion.
About Freehand
Most AI companies are building tools. We're building the worker.
Freehand is the AI Team that runs Accounts Payable and spend operations for the world's largest enterprises, negotiating rates, enforcing contracts, managing suppliers, processing payments, and reconciling data across enterprise systems. It's work that's always required armies of analysts, BPOs, and offshore teams to keep supply chains running.
The tech industry has spent years competing for a $16B software market. We're going after the $348B enterprises spend on labor instead, building the AI Team that doesn't promise incremental efficiency gains, but owns the outcome, with the ROI to prove it. Meta, Unilever, J&J, Pfizer, and Cardinal Health are already running parts of their operations on Freehand, and we're just getting started.
About the Role
Freehand is seeking a Head of Growth Marketing to turn our market opportunity into qualified pipeline. Reporting to the Head of Marketing, you'll own the growth strategy and pipeline target across net-new and expansion, deciding where to invest, building the programs to support those bets, and scaling what works.
This is a hands-on builder role and our first dedicated growth marketing hire. You'll shape the function from the ground up, working closely with Marketing, Outbound Sales, Revenue Operations, Customer Success, Product Marketing, and other teams to create a repeatable growth motion.
Pipeline & Growth Strategy: Own the marketing pipeline target and plan. Define our audience and account strategy, channel mix, campaign roadmap, and investment priorities.
Integrated Campaigns: Build and run campaigns across ABM, digital, content, events, partners, webinars, email, and outbound plays. Turn market opportunities into focused programs with clear audiences, offers, and outcomes.
Account-Based Growth: Partner with Outbound Sales on account selection, buying groups, campaign plays, follow-up, and conversion.
Experimentation & New Channels: Test new ways to create pipeline, measure results, and scale the programs and channels that work.
Funnel & Measurement: Own the growth dashboard and operating cadence. Identify what is working, where conversion is breaking, and what to do next. Partner with Revenue Operations and Sales to improve pipeline quality and conversion.
Expansion Growth: Partner with Customer Success, Sales, and Product Marketing to create programs that expand customers into additional spend categories and workflows.
Cross-Functional GTM: Turn company priorities into coordinated go-to-market motions with Product Marketing, Revenue Operations, Outbound Sales, Events, Partnerships, and Customer Success.
Build the Function: Establish the operating model, processes, and resources needed to scale growth marketing over time.
This role is based in San Francisco.
You should apply if:
You own the number. You're accountable for qualified pipeline, not just leads, clicks, or campaign activity.
You're a builder and an operator. You can set the strategy and execute the work yourself.
You think in audiences and accounts. You know how to identify the right accounts, reach the right buying groups, and create reasons for them to engage.
You build campaigns that sell. You've turned a market opportunity or buyer problem into an integrated campaign that produced measurable pipeline.
You're analytical. You understand funnel performance, channel economics, CAC, and pipeline math, and use data to decide what to do next.
You experiment. You form hypotheses, launch quickly, learn, and iterate.
You work tightly with Outbound Sales. You know how to build shared account strategies, plays, and follow-up.
You understand enterprise buying. You're comfortable marketing to CFOs and senior executives while engaging the functional leaders who experience the problem every day.
You enjoy creating something from scratch. You're energized by making smart bets, learning quickly, and building a function that can scale.
You can do more with less. You've operated effectively without a large budget or team.
Minimum Requirements:
8+ years in growth marketing, demand generation, or revenue marketing for a B2B enterprise technology company.
Proven ownership of pipeline targets and a track record of generating qualified pipeline and revenue.
Experience building integrated, multi-channel campaigns and ABM programs.
Strong command of funnel analytics, experimentation, and marketing performance measurement.
Experience partnering closely with enterprise Sales and Revenue Operations teams on targeting, pipeline creation, and conversion.
Hands-on experience across digital channels, including paid, email, website conversion, SEO/SEM, and emerging growth channels.
Excellent written, analytical, and executive communication skills.
Bachelor's degree required.
An ideal candidate also has:
Experience building a growth function or motion from the ground up.
Experience marketing to large enterprise accounts with complex buying groups and long sales cycles.
Experience driving both net-new acquisition and customer expansion.
Experience in enterprise SaaS, fintech, supply chain, procurement, or AI.
Experience using AI and automation to make growth marketing more efficient.
A track record of finding and scaling new channels rather than relying on an inherited demand generation playbook.
Experience determining when to use internal execution, contractors, agencies, technology, or future hires to scale growth efficiently.
