Junior Game Designer
TLDR
Research and prototype puzzle and hypercasual games; test builds, document concepts in GDD, and collaborate with design, art, and engineering to balance play.
I. KEY JOB DUTIES
- Research and contribute creative ideas for puzzle and hypercasual games.
- Assist in creating prototypes and testing game concepts.
- Document gameplay ideas clearly in Game Design Documents (GDD).
- Support senior designers in designing and balancing levels, game systems, and difficulty progression.
- Collaborate with designers, artists, and engineers to help bring concepts into production.
- Regularly test game builds, give feedback, and help ensure product quality.
- Learn how to monitor game performance and gather player insights to support improvements.
II. EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENT / SKILLS / ATTRIBUTES
KNOWLEDGE
- Basic knowledge of game design principles, especially puzzle mechanics, level design, and game flow.
- Familiarity with mobile games and casual game trends.
- Plus points if you know about:
- Player psychology and motivation.
- Basic statistics or data analysis.
- Game engines or prototyping tools (Unity, Game Maker, etc.).
ABILITIES
- At least 1 year of experience in a Game Designer or similar role
- Logical thinking and a problem-solving mindset.
- “Must-do” attitude: proactive, eager to learn, and not afraid of challenges.
- Ability to organize ideas clearly and accept feedback positively.
- Detail-oriented with a strong passion for puzzles and casual games.
- Team player with good communication and collaboration skills.
Plus points if you have:
- Experience shipped one or more puzzle/casual games.
- Game balancing, including in-game economies and difficulty progression.
- Ability to create a prototype by yourself with any creation software or game engine (Unity3D, Cocos, Game Maker,...).
- A dedicated balance between the left/right brain.
