Junior Legal Counsel - 6-month Fixed-Term Contract

TLDR

Draft and negotiate cross-franchise contracts, advise development and marketing teams, and build a legal knowledge hub for internal stakeholders.

Ubisoft is organized on an operating model that revolves around 5 Creative Houses bringing together franchises, studios, and teams with shared audiences, expertise and business ambitions. Each Creative House owns its creative vision, brand strategy, roadmaps, production decisions, and is accountable for the growth and performance of its portfolio. Creative Houses operate with strong autonomy within HQ-defined standards and governance.

The Product Counsel provides end-to-end daily legal support for HQ / group topics and global or cross-franchise initiatives. The role ensures consistent application of HQ governance, risk standards, and scalable legal practices across the organization.

Alongside the legal counsels embedded within each Creative House, Product Counsels handle deals and projects that don’t belong to a single Creative House: structuring commercial agreements, group-wide frameworks, and new strategic initiatives.

Product Counsel may also provide case-by-case overflow support to Creative House legal Counsels during peak periods or exceptional situations.

This position combines breadth, cross-franchise impact and hands-on deal work, with real room to shape the tools and precedents the whole team relies on.

As a Junior Product Counsel, your key responsibilities will be to:

  • Draft, negotiate, and oversee all contracts related to Ubisoft’s business activities, covering a wide range of third-party agreements across cross-functional group and production matters (production, tech, licensing and marketing, etc.);
  • Support and train development and marketing teams by providing practical, tailored legal advice;
  • Promote strong legal best practices to enable creativity, including the legal validation of in-game content;
  • Contribute to structuring and documenting team resources to streamline future case handling, and support the development of an effective legal knowledge hub for internal stakeholders.

Relevant experience

  • First experience as a trainee or junior legal counsel in intellectual property and commercial contracting
  • Experience in adjacent domains is strongly valued

Skills and knowledge

  • Business-first legal judgment (pragmatic, risk-based, solutions-driven)
  • Strong prioritization and time management
  • Clear communication and influence with senior stakeholders
  • Operational rigor (process discipline, documentation, follow-through)
  • Collaborative approach; confident escalation when needed
