We’ve developed machines to fully automate human cell production - the most manual process in Biotech. Cells are used to discover and develop new drugs, and now they're being used to cure diseases like Parkinson’s and age-related blindness. Mytos will impact cure development across the board.

We're live in multibillion dollar biotechs on both coasts of the US, and raised $19m to expand into the market faster, and accelerate our development! Next year, neurons grown on our machines will be going into Parkinson patient brains.

The Role

As a Junior/Mid level Software Engineer (depending on experience) you’ll be contributing across all areas of our full-stack product based in the Cloud, and our IoT devices that interface with Mytos hardware to manufacture cells. You'll contribute across a variety of technologies and paradigms, leaning how to research, design, implement, maintain, and evolve product functionality giving users powerful tools to customise and monitor cell growth protocols.

Your work will directly impact how quickly and effectively new therapies and research tools can be developed, ultimately helping patients worldwide.

What You'll Do

Collaborate closely with other engineers to deliver end-to-end product functionality spanning experiment scheduling, automated image analysis, and remote operation of our devices.

Develop and improve our frontend applications using TypeScript, React, and GraphQL to create intuitive interfaces for complex biological workflows.

Build backend services that communicate with our hardware systems and learn about data integrity throughout the cell manufacturing process.

Collaborate across disciplines with hardware engineers, biologists, and commercial teams to build reliable and effective systems in record time.

Learn and contribute to our testing methods to help us deliver quality software at speed.

Learn and contribute to architecture and infrastructure, system performance, and interesting distributed system challenges.

Write code that you can immediately see the real-world impact: testing on our prototype machines in our own lab.

Up-skill in domains outside software engineering, from donning a lab coat and be trained on the nuances of stem cells, to the basics of fluid mechanics.

Be given a lot of autonomy, responsibility, and ownership of product problems and the technical solutions you design and deliver to address customer needs.

What We're Looking For (depending on experience level)

How We Use AI

Every engineer gets an AI tools budget. Pick what makes you faster.

AI and its tooling keep getting better. We want to keep getting better at using it to ship quality code. So we keep an eye on the latest developments, and we try out & share workflows across the team. You'll find a setup that fits how you work.

Right now, our team runs on Linear, and most of us use Claude Code. We’re trialling AI review platforms and low-friction cloud agents to tighten the loop from ‘needs doing’ to ‘shipped code’. Our company knowledge base is Notion — perfect for AI information retrieval and document drafting.

The bar for quality doesn't drop because AI wrote the first draft. You own your code, you understand it, and you can stand behind every line - whoever or whatever typed it.

Nice-to-Haves:

Understanding of distributed systems concepts.

Experience with Python for data processing or image analysis.

Background or interest in biology, lab automation, or scientific instrumentation.

Any experience with regulated environments (GMP, HIPAA, etc.)

Any experience with UI/product design processes and tools (wireframes, mockups, looks-like prototypes, etc.).

Our on-site includes a coding exercise we ask you to do without AI tools. Strong fundamentals are what let you spot when AI is over-complicating a problem or quietly stacking up tech debt. We want to see how you think.
