About the role:

Reporting to the Editorial Director, the Junior Writer/Editor is accountable for the timely and efficient writing and editing of content, including but not limited to proofreading, headlines, addition of media, link tracking and SEO. The Junior Writer/Editor will create content at the discretion of the Editorial Director, depending on the content calendar and what is prioritized on any given day. The ideal candidate will be a resourceful self-starter, equally comfortable covering popular and niche sports, always seeking to improve.

The candidate will work remotely and must be willing to adapt their schedule based on business needs which may include nights and weekends.

Responsibilities:

• Creating and updating written content as needed
• Meeting publishing deadlines
• Copyediting incoming content, including backend work (headlines, SEO, links, media)
• Maintaining content calendar
• Following and implementing style guide

Qualifications:

• Strong editorial background and proofreading skills, with elite attention to detail
• Well-versed in SEO strategy
• Ability to give constructive feedback
• Baseline knowledge of a wide-range of sports, beyond the “Big Six”
• Comfortable using Google Suite
• Hands-on experience using WordPress or similar CMS
• Excellent organization, communication and time-management skills
