Legal Assistant - Settled Cases

We’re looking for a Settlement & Subrogation Clerk—someone who thrives on accuracy, moves quickly, and takes full ownership of the disbursement process. This is a high-impact role responsible for turning settlements into fast, clean, and compliant payouts.
Key Responsibilities
· Prepare and finalize settlement statements, including attorney fees, costs, liens, and client net recovery.
· Request, track, and resolve medical liens and subrogation claims.
· Communicate with medical providers, insurers, and lienholders to obtain accurate payoff amounts.
· Coordinate and execute client disbursements, ensuring all funds are properly allocated.
· Confirm settlement funds are received and cleared prior to payment.
· Partner with accounting/trust teams to process payments to clients and third parties.
· Clearly explain settlement breakdowns to clients in a professional and understandable manner.
· Maintain accurate, complete, and audit-ready documentation for every file.
· Close out cases once all payments and documentation are finalized.

Qualifications
· 2+ years of experience in one of the following:
- Personal injury law firm (settlements, case management, or disbursements)
- Lien resolution / subrogation
- Insurance claims (bodily injury or similar)
· Strong attention to detail and accuracy in handling financial information.
· Proven ability to manage high-volume workloads and meet deadlines.
· Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications
· Experience preparing settlement statements.
· Familiarity with medical liens and subrogation processes.
· Experience working with trust accounting or legal financial workflows.
· Background in a high-volume personal injury firm.

Compensation & Work Environment
· Competitive base salary ($65,000 – $85,000, depending on experience)
· Performance-based bonus tied to accuracy, speed, and volume

What Success Looks Like
· Settlements are disbursed quickly (typically within 10–20 days)
· Settlement statements are consistently 100% accurate
· All liens are resolved prior to payment
· Files are closed cleanly with complete documentation
· Attorneys and paralegals are not pulled into disbursement issues
