Maintenance Technician
TLDR
Troubleshoot automation equipment and facility systems while managing preventive maintenance across production infrastructure.
The Maintenance Technician supports the Controls Engineer and the Operations team by supporting the Preventative Maintenance program, performing root cause/corrective action on equipment issues and resolving various facilities maintenance tickets. This position requires a strong understanding of mechanical systems, motors, pumps and general facility maintenance. In addition to the knowledge requirements of the role, a successful Maintenance Technician also must possess the physical hands on skills and confidence to carry out the work. The Maintenance Technician plays a key role in facilities maintenance, ensuring that building systems, utilities, and production infrastructure operate safely, reliably, and efficiently.
Responsibilities
- Manage and execute the facility PM program ensuring equipment operates safely, reliably and efficiently.
- Read blue prints both in electrical and mechanical schematics
- Troubleshoot defective automation equipment and facility systems; conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions
- Supports Controls Engineer in advancing projects and modifications that improve throughput, efficiency, and reliability of automation equipment and plant infrastructure
- Maintain technical subject matter expertise (SME) for automated systems, robotics, actuators, and servo control
- Use the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to schedule and track preventive maintenance (PMs), manage spare parts, and document repairs
- Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on facility systems (HVAC, lighting, compressed air, water systems, and power distribution) including use of multi-meter to measure electrical properties
- Coordinate external contractors and vendors for facility-related work; review technical proposals and participate in vendor selection
- Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and building standards in both automation and facility operations
- Provide hands-on troubleshooting of motors, scanners, VFDs, photoeyes, encoders, electrical circuits, and facility utilities.
- Support infrastructure improvements in production areas, offices, and warehouses to maintain a safe and efficient work environment
- Respond to urgent facility and equipment issues to minimize downtime and disruption
- Understands and practices safe working approaches in an industrial environment
- Supports employee skill development by sharing knowledge about equipment operation, maintenance and best practices
- Perform other duties as assigned by the reporting manager
