The Impact of a Manager, Cloud Infrastructure and Platform Engineering at Coupa: As Manager of Cloud Platform Engineering at Coupa, you will be a key leader who drives the execution of our cloud platform strategy while building and mentoring a diverse team of engineers across all experience levels, with a strong focus on quality engineering, tool development, and productivity enhancement. Your leadership will directly enable hundreds of engineers to deliver exceptional products through reliable, scalable platform infrastructure, comprehensive automation frameworks, and innovative productivity tools. You'll guide a team of junior to senior lead engineers in building foundational cloud technologies, quality-embedded CI/CD pipelines, custom tooling solutions, and developer productivity platforms that power millions of customer transactions daily. ● Lead and Develop High-Performing Engineering Teams: Build, mentor, and manage 8-12 diverse Cloud Platform Engineers with career development and performance management for individual and team success.

● Drive Platform Engineering Execution and Delivery: Translate strategic initiatives into actionable roadmaps ensuring timely delivery of infrastructure, automation, and platform capabilities.

● Foster Technical Excellence and Innovation: Establish engineering best practices, code standards, and design processes that deliver scalable solutions while encouraging innovation.

● Manage Cross-Functional Platform Initiatives: Lead complex multi-quarter projects coordinating with product, DevOps, and infrastructure teams to deliver integrated solutions.

● Build Comprehensive Platform Automation: Oversee CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure automation, and developer tooling development to dramatically improve organizational productivity.

● Ensure Platform Reliability and Performance: Establish monitoring, alerting, and incident response processes maintaining uptime standards and sustainable operational practices.

● Drive Quality-Embedded Engineering Practices: Implement testing strategies, quality gates, and validation frameworks ensuring reliability while enabling rapid delivery.

● Manage Resource Planning and Technical Roadmaps: Collaborate with leadership to define priorities, manage capacity, and align efforts with business and technical requirements.

What You Will Bring to Coupa

● Engineering Management Leadership: 8+ years software engineering with 4+ years managing teams of 8-12+ engineers across multiple skill levels and specializations.

● Platform Engineering and Cloud Expertise: Deep technical background in cloud platforms, infrastructure automation, containerization, and scalable platform solutions.

● Team Development and Mentorship: Proven expertise in hiring, developing, and retaining talent with strong performance management and technical mentorship.

● Advanced Quality Engineering and Tool Development: Extensive experience implementing testing strategies, building automation tools, and creating quality-embedded CI/CD pipelines. ● Custom Tool Building and Engineering Productivity: Hands-on experience building internal tools, productivity platforms, and workflow automation while establishing metrics and measurement frameworks that optimize workflows and accelerate development for large organizations.

● Cross-Functional Project Leadership: Proven ability leading complex multi-team initiatives and delivering platform solutions meeting business and engineering standards.

● Technical Architecture and Design: Strong background in distributed systems, microservices, and platform patterns with architectural decision-making ability.

● Automation, Tooling, and Developer Platform Expertise: Hands-on experience building developer platforms, productivity tools, and comprehensive tooling ecosystems.
