Manufacturing Controller
TLDR
Oversee standard costing, inventory, capital expenditure, audits, and process improvements across manufacturing accounting operations.
We are seeking a Manufacturing Controller to join our team in the Chicago area. Reporting to the Head of Finance, this role is responsible for overseeing the manufacturing controlling operations.
Main Responsibilities:
- Support a standard costing approach and review variances with the leadership team.
- Harmonize and align labor and machine hourly rate calculations.
- Manage and report monthly capital expenditure spend.
- Maintain cost center and work center data structures and settlement rules.
- Conduct standard and ad hoc cost analysis during actual, rolling forecast, and planning periods.
- Support the budget process by preparing and presenting COGS and other expenses.
- Oversee inventory management, including cycle and physical counts
- Compile and report on obsolete inventory monthly.
- Ensure accurate and timely closing procedures.
- Support balance sheet reconciliations and audits.
- Assist the leadership team in cost reductions and process improvements.
- Drive actions related to Net Working Capital and respective KPIs.
- Follow up with stakeholders to resolve issues promptly.
- Identify and implement improvements in manufacturing accounting.
- Ensure compliance with accounting policies and internal control standards.
- Lead process standardization and harmonization initiatives.
- Support internal and external audit activities.
Desired Experience and Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.
- Strong SAP FICO experience desired.
- Good commercial awareness and understanding of business.
- Excellent problem-solving and organizational skills.
- Advanced Excel skills and experience with large complex data sets.
- Attention to detail and ability to work independently.
- Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
- Ability to work well with diverse personalities.
