Material Planner
TLDR
Coordinate supply and demand through forecasting and production planning, drive daily planning operations, and optimize outputs using inventory systems and cross-functional collaboration.
Role – Local Roots has an immediate opportunity for a Material Planner at our facility located in Vernon, CA. This position reports directly to the Director of Supply Chain. This individual is responsible for ensuring supply supports demand by coordinating closely with Operations and Business Development. The role involves developing supply forecasts that support customer orders and entering work orders into the inventory management system to fulfill orders. This position is critical to the business and requires daily management of supply and constraints, status reporting and escalation, and the relentless pursuit of operational excellence and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities – You should be confident making significant contributions in the following categories:
- Generate and provide forecasts and production plans
- Maintain accurate production plans and ensure daily updates
- Maintain data parameters (capacity, manpower, constraints) to optimally plan output
- Collaborate with Business Development to determine requirements for on-time delivery
- Identify gaps, risks, and propose solutions to meet plans and schedules
- Provide ongoing transparency of operations and output
- Generate and publish presentations, and/or reports on performance metrics, productions plans, and projects
- Enter work orders into Fishbowl Inventory Management System
Requirements – Your background should include the following:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Economics, Supply Chain Management or similar discipline
- 2+ years’ experience in Production Control material planning or production planning / scheduling
- Analytical capabilities including data analysis to optimize production
- Strong proficiency in MS Excel required; proven experience with MS Office suite preferred
- Self-starter with the ability to manage daily planning operations and assigned projects simultaneously
- Ability to problem solve within cross-functional and multi-cultural environment
- Open-minded, collaborative and team-oriented attitude
