At Truveta, we believe that the high data quality will play a critical role in accomplishing our mission towards saving lives with data. An important component of this work is data normalization in which the medical terminology linking, and terminology management are essential in building deep intelligence empowering the new generation of clinical research.  

We are looking for a Medical Terminologist who will help to standardize the data sourced from different health systems. The responsibilities include identifying, creating, or validating mapping between medical terms from various healthcare system to standardized Terminologies and extending them.  

Key Qualifications

  • Medical training and experience 
    • Education in Medicine or related fields (Nursing, Pharmacy, Clinical laboratory science, Medical Informatics, Medical Research, Medical scribing, medical coding…) 
    • 3+ years of experience in the field 
    • Understanding of Electronic Medical Records, including but not limited to reading medical charts, medication lists, lab reports, procedure notes...  
    • Understanding of vast medical terms and frequently used abbreviations  
  • Medical standards and Terminologies mapping and modelling skills 
    • Hands-on experience in all of these medical terminologies: SNOMED CT, RxNorm, LOINC; others are bonus  
    • Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office Products (Outlook, Excel, Word), using web-based tools to carry out mapping tasks 
  • Quality Assurance skills
    • Ability to onboard and continuously train contracted Terminologists
    • Ability to review semantic mapping and/or ML assisted annotation results, modify if needed to ensure quality of mapping and annotation
    • Proactively leading Terminologists’ team discussion on annotation guidelines, come to consensus, and facilitate to update & maintain the guidelines 
  • Project management skills 
    • Strong communication skills
    • Excel at collaboration with:
      • Internal functional teams including ML and tooling engineers, to provide ML training and feedback on the ML output; to request and verify tooling functionalities
      • External vendors for potential outsourcing including evaluation, trial co-ordination, onboarding, on-going training, and QA.
