Role overview
The Onboarding Specialist is responsible for managing the end-to-end merchant onboarding process, ensuring that new clients are seamlessly integrated onto Planet’s gateway and payment platforms. This role involves coordinating technical setup, validating applications, collaborating with internal and external stakeholders, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. The position plays a key role in delivering high-quality onboarding, meeting SLAs, and enhancing the overall customer experience.

What you will do

  • Manage the full onboarding lifecycle for merchants, from application review to go-live

  • Perform technical scrubbing and validation of merchant applications to ensure completeness and accuracy

  • Configure and set up payment gateway solutions in line with client requirements

  • Coordinate with internal teams (e.g. Sales, Compliance, Technical Support) and external partners (acquirers, integrators, vendors)

  • Ensure all onboarding activities align with regulatory standards and internal policies

  • Monitor onboarding progress against SLAs and proactively resolve any issues or delays

  • Act as the main point of contact for onboarding-related queries, ensuring a smooth and professional client experience

  • Identify opportunities to improve onboarding processes, efficiency, and quality

Who you are

  • Experience in onboarding, payments, fintech, or a related operational role

  • Strong understanding of payment gateways and merchant onboarding processes (preferred)

  • Familiarity with AML/KYC requirements and compliance standards is nice to have

  • Highly detail-oriented with strong organizational and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and stakeholders in a fast-paced environment

  • Excellent communication skills, with a customer-focused mindset

  • Proactive, adaptable, and able to work both independently and as part of a team
