About the Opportunity

An onsite employee health center located within the San Francisco offices of a leading financial services firm is seeking an experienced Clinical Care Coordinator who is equally comfortable drawing blood, administering vaccines, and supporting front-office clinic operations.

This position combines hands-on specimen collection with patient check-in, scheduling, documentation, referrals, and general administrative support. It is an excellent opportunity for a phlebotomist who enjoys variety, values personal patient interaction, and can help keep a small clinic organized throughout the day.

The clinic provides employees with convenient access to wellness visits, preventive services, vaccinations, health screenings, minor illness care, and follow-up coordination.

What You Will Do

  • Greet patients and provide a welcoming, professional check-in experience.
  • Confirm appointments and collect required patient information.
  • Obtain vital signs and support basic patient intake.
  • Perform venipuncture confidently and independently.
  • Collect, label, process, and prepare specimens for transport.
  • Complete urine collection and point-of-care testing as assigned.
  • Administer vaccines when qualified to do so under applicable California Medical Assistant training, competency, authorization, and supervision requirements.
  • Schedule follow-up appointments and coordinate referrals.
  • Reinforce care instructions provided by the clinical team.
  • Contact insurance carriers when coverage verification is required.
  • Upload laboratory results and supporting records into the EMR.
  • Answer clinic phone calls and route messages appropriately.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and protect confidential information.
  • Support daily clinic readiness by monitoring supplies and maintaining organized patient-care and front-office areas.
  • Follow established clinic workflows, patient privacy, infection-control, and safety procedures.
  • Escalate clinical questions, patient-safety concerns, and matters outside assigned scope to the appropriate licensed clinician.

Required Qualifications

  • Active California Certified Phlebotomy Technician I (CPT I) credential.
  • Current and regular hands-on venipuncture experience.
  • Ability to perform blood draws confidently and independently without retraining.
  • Previous experience supporting a medical front desk, outpatient clinic, or comparable healthcare setting.
  • Current Active BLS (CPR) certification.
  • Prior hands-on vaccine administration experience.
  • Candidates performing vaccine administration must be able to provide documentation demonstrating completion of the applicable California Medical Assistant injection training and demonstrated competency requirements, including required didactic and supervised hands-on injection training.
  • An active CPT I credential alone does not establish Medical Assistant injection or vaccine-administration competency. Vaccine administration will only be performed under appropriate written authorization and required supervision in accordance with California requirements.
  • Familiarity with electronic medical records and medical terminology.
  • Strong computer, communication, organization, and patient-service skills.
  • Professional demeanor and excellent bedside manner.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating with the clinical team and escalating concerns appropriately.
  • Reliable ability to commute to downtown San Francisco.

Recent venipuncture experience is an essential qualification. Candidates who have not performed blood draws recently or cannot complete them independently will not be considered.

Vaccine administration is a required clinical responsibility for this position. Candidates must be able to provide the required documentation supporting their prior injection training and demonstrated competency.

Preferred Experience

  • Insurance verification
  • Point-of-care testing
  • Specimen processing and laboratory preparation
  • Patient referral management
  • Employee health, occupational health, primary care, or outpatient clinic experience
