Mission of this role
As our People Operations Specialist, you'll be the single owner of Rentman's People Operations. Be the person who makes sure that every payroll cycle runs flawlessly, every new hire has a great first day, and every employee gets a fast, reliable answer when they need one. Additionally, you are the single person responsible for the employee experience, which is a nice challenge to have for a company in hyper growth.
You'll work closely with our Head of People & Legal, our incoming Senior People Business Partner, and our Office Operations Manager to keep the operational machine running reliably as Rentman continues to scale.
This is a role for someone who 1) takes pride in operational excellence and 2) looks for ways to improve the work.
What you'll do
Run the monthly payroll cycle
Own HR Administration in Personio
Execute a welcoming onboarding for new hires from pre-boarding through day 1
Manage off-boarding and exit interviews
Handle sick leave intake and case administration
Coordinate 30% ruling, visa, and IND processes for international hires
Issue standard employment contracts using the templates set by Legal
Additionally you will:
Support the People BP on programme cycles:
Prepare the administrative groundwork for Performance Reviews, eNPS, Learning & Development, and Personal Scorecard cycles
-
Track cycle readiness, send reminders, prep data, and follow up on completion
Build for the future:
Partner with Finance on our payroll automation programme
Explore AI and automation opportunities across People Ops admin: identifying recurring manual work and proposing better ways
Document every recurring process in Confluence so the team is never dependent on one person's memory

Requirements
Who are you
You have 2-4 years of experience in a People Operations, HR Admin, or People Specialist role at a scale-up or SMB
You've owned payroll end-to-end for at least one country; NL experience is strongly preferred; multi-country is a real plus
You have solid working knowledge of Dutch employment law and admin: contracts, sick leave, Wet Poortwachter, 30% ruling, and visa/IND basics
You're hands-on experience with an HRIS; Personio is a plus; comparable tools are fine
You're fluent in English; Dutch is a plus
You document as you go. Every recurring process gets a Confluence page
Confidentiality is non-negotiable for you; you handle payroll, exits, sick leave, and contracts without a second thought about discretion
-
You're a natural loop-closer: you don't drop tasks at handover boundaries, you communicate proactively, and you flag issues early
Nice to have
Multi-country payroll experience (Netherlands, Germany, Canada)
Experience in a payroll automation or HRIS improvement project
Active use of AI tools in operational work
Exposure to onboarding programme design or BP cycle support
What you’ll get
An ambitious, inclusive, diverse international team
A annual salary between 45 to 50k (including 8% holiday benefit) based on experience
A “13th month” annual bonus based on company results
25 days of paid vacation, plus one extra day off each year up to your 5th year anniversary
A paid 4-week sabbatical after 5 years to go on an adventure
A shiny Windows, Linux or Mac of your choice

A pension plan via BrightPensioen
