Huawei’s Nuremberg Research Center is responsible for Digital Power Advanced Technology Research, Architecture Evolution Design and Strategic Technology Planning.

The Huawei Power Conversion Technology Laboratory will play an important role in the Huawei Digital Power Business Unit in the design and development of power converters and control systems for applications such as PV, AC-DC and DC-DC power supplies and Automotive Systems. As an employee you will be part of the HUAWEI Energy R&D Competence Center in Nuremberg.

Now we are looking for a:

Industrial PhD student in Design and control of high-speed electrical machines (m/f/d)

Key responsibilities

• You will be responsible to model and design power electronic drives, to control the high speed electrical machine.
• Literature study of the state of the art in the field of ultra-fast rotating or linear electrical machines
• Research on new high speed actuator concepts
• Develop test benches to verify the concept experimentally
• Document findings by writing conference and journal papers

Requirements

• You hold a Master (MSc.) degree in electrical engineering
• You have a solid understanding of core concepts in electrical machines, electrical drives, and power electronics
• You have an understanding in developing high power electrical drives to control high speed machines
• You have knowledge in designing and conducting experiments, additional experience in electrical motors, actuators, and PCB design is a plus
• You have knowledge in finite element analysis tools such as Ansys, Comsol and/or programming tools such as Matlab/Simulink. Proficiency in CAD software especially in Solidworks is a plus
• You have an strong problem solving competence and an creative and analytical mind
• Very good English skills written and spoken (working language)
