Product Operations Manager
We are looking for a community manager for our product function at Spotify. You will support and elevate Spotify product managers through driving strategic programs of work and cultivating a thriving product community.
The role straddles operations, project management, and community management:
- You will own projects that drive impact for our product managers. You will work with a product steering group that has identified yearly objectives, and it will be your job to set up projects to drive these objectives through to success.
- You will support the day to day operations of our product management team that make them work more effectively, for example establishing product onboarding for new hires.
- You will help foster an internal product culture that is inclusive, educational, creative, celebratory, and collaborative. And you will help elevate our presence externally through our product platforms, training, social channels and events.
The role is based in New York, though we have teams in Stockholm, London, Gothenburg and Boston, and you will be expected to travel as needed. You will report to Mission Operations Lead, Growth.
Who you are
- You have a high level of self drive, high energy, love to work hands-on and get things done.
- You have an understanding of product management and frameworks and know what product managers need to enable to thrive in the workplace.
- You have experience working in product management or program management capacity, or have worked closely with product managers and tech teams in high growth company.
- You can manage projects autonomously from kick off and execution to delivery.
- You are a great communicator with strong stakeholder management skills and can bring clarity to the projects you take on.
- You bring innovative thinking to operations and can demonstrate examples of systems you implemented that created long lasting impact.
- You have built up and managed thriving communities in an operational setting.
- You have experience in managing both small and large scale events and know all the logistical considerations needed to make an event a success.
- You are passionate about product and people and keep up to date with the latest industry trends.
- You are savvy with social media and know how to increase our engagement on these channels.
- You have experience working with globally-dispersed teams.
- You understand how to put a detailed budget together, know how to stick to it, and understand navigating financial processes of a large organisation.
What you'll do
- Become the driving force of our product community in Spotify by working with product leadership on creating a thriving product culture through supporting several programs around Learning & Inspiration and Community & Culture.
- Project Management:
- Based on the current and changing needs of the product team, you will work on strategic projects that span the Spotify product operation strategic pillars of Learning & Inspiration, Culture & Community, Tools & Systems and Collaboration & Quality.
- You will define the scope and the resources that these projects will need to get delivered.
- You will find new ways to research and gather the needs of the product team.
- You will track and communicate progress across your projects, ensure the teams are on track, facilitate decision-making, resolve blockers and surface challenges.
- You will craft and execute on communications strategies for your projects.
- You will enable continuous improvement during the project, ensuring learnings are captured, shared, and integrated.
- You will act as our product community manager.
- You will collaborate with the product leadership and our other product managers to act as an advocate for our product community.
- You will run fun and highly engaging cultural initiatives.
- You will help drive context and visibility across the product team, helping to bridge the product function between different parts of the organisation.
- You will support established programs to aid learning and Inspiration across the product team and help evangelize product to other disciplines at Spotify.
- You will make connections with the broader product community by hosting events and sourcing conferences and meet-ups we can sponsor.
- You will work with product managers to make this a creative space and help nurture a creative and collaborative product environment.
- You will help manage the operational budget and work with our finance teams to ensure suppliers get paid on time.
- You will help onboard new product managers to the team and seek innovative ways to ensure that all new employees have a great experience joining Spotify.
- You will always be acutely aware of the team’s needs and provide feedback to our product leads in order to ensure all product managers experience a happy and healthy work environment.
