Research Assistant

The Climate Research Lab is seeking undergraduate research assistants to contribute to an ongoing research project examining how global forces shape climate attitudes and action in the Philippines, one of the world’s most climate-vulnerable countries. Working with original survey data from 1,500 respondents in the Philippines, students will help investigate questions about climate risk, globalization, inequality, international organizations, and climate adaptation.

Job Duties

Research assistants will work collaboratively with the faculty director and other undergraduate researchers to analyze survey data and contribute to manuscripts in development. Depending on their interests and experience, students may assist with data cleaning and management, statistical analysis, literature reviews, data visualization, research writing, and interpreting and communicating findings. Students will receive hands-on training in social science research methods and will take on increasingly independent responsibilities as they develop their skills. The lab will meet regularly as a group to discuss research, troubleshoot challenges, and share progress.

Basic Qualifications/Education Required

• BA in Sociology or related field.
• Interest in climate change, sustainability, globalization, inequality, international relations, or related topics.
• Strong interest in learning and applying social science research methods.
• Coursework in research methods and/or statistics preferred.
• Attention to detail, reliability, and willingness to collaborate with other students.
• No prior research experience is required beyond relevant coursework.
