The Mission

Mark Kelly for Senate is the campaign organization for Senator Mark Kelly of Arizona. The campaign is working to re-elect Senator Kelly to a six year term in 2022 after he won a special election in 2020 to fill the remainder of the late Senator John McCain’s term. We are building a team committed to working together to re-elect the Senator and hold Arizona in 2022. 

The Opportunity

Our Research Associate is a key member of the research team, working with department staff to bolster campaign messaging. The Research Associate will conduct research on public records, news clips, and other sources to produce work product for internal and external messaging.  

We are looking for someone with strong research skills, and attention to detail, who is a responsive, passionate and determined worker with a creative approach to identifying research opportunities, and who has experience working in a fast-paced environment that requires accurate work on tight deadlines. The Research Associate will often be working on multiple projects at once, so the ability to manage competing priorities and work proactively is key.

Duties

  • Work and communicate effectively with other members of the research team to achieve departmental goals
  • Conduct research using public records, news clips, campaign finance reports, travel records, disclosures, and research databases to create cohesive narratives for campaign earned and paid media 
  • Create rapid response documents on tight timelines with precision and attention to detail
  • Contribute to vetting and opposition research programs 

Qualifications

  • Familiarity with campaign research and a desire to grow these skills preferred 
  • Strong research skills, attention to detail, responsiveness, and passion for the work
  • Familiarity with public records tools and political research tools a plus 

Logistics

  • Level: Associate
  • Salary: $4,500/month
  • Location: Remote, eventual relocation to Phoenix, AZ 
  • Benefits: Eligible for UnitedHealthcare medical, dental, vision plan at no premium 
  • Leave: 6 days of vacation in the first 6 months, additional days accrued after 6 months, reasonable sick leave, bereavement, and paid holidays
  • Hours: This position’s schedule will vary based on the needs of the campaign and point in the cycle, and is likely to require evening and weekend work over the course of the election cycle.
  • This role is covered under a collective bargaining agreement with Campaign Workers’ Guild (CWG).
