Research Engineer
TLDR
Process lumbopelvic kinematic data and support wearable motion sensors and mobile applications across functional tasks and seven-day activities.
The Department of Bioengineering is seeking a Research Engineer. This is a part-time temporary position in the Biomechanical Core of the HEALing LB3P Mechanistic Research Center (MRC). The candidate will serve as a research engineer under the supervision of the Director of the Biomechanical Core (Kevin Bell, PhD).
The candidate will assist with the data processing and analysis methods related to the lumbopelvic kinematic data. This will require interfacing with a variety of faculty, staff, and graduate students to ensure the accuracy, reliability, and timeliness of the analysis. The candidate must possess a working knowledge of kinematics of human movement, Matlab, Microsoft Excel, and statistics.
The candidate will also assist with the coordination, technical support, implementation, and quality control of the wearable motion sensor hardware and corresponding mobile application to characterize lumbopelvic kinematics during functional tasks (flexion/extension, lateral bending, truck rotation, lifting, and chair rises) and daily activities over a seven-day period.
The candidate will also provide assistance with related projects that utilize comparable methods that impact the long-term success of the primary project.
A MS Degree in Bioengineering (or related field) is required for this position.
