Join a team developing software capabilities for telecommunications platforms and systems. This opportunity offers hands-on experience designing, implementing, and validating software solutions that contribute to optical and Ethernet networking initiatives. The role provides exposure to embedded software development, testing, and cross-functional collaboration.

How you will make an impact:

• Develop applications that enhance the capabilities of DCOM/PON systems and platforms.
• Design and implement embedded, real-time software solutions for telecommunications systems.
• Write and test software code to ensure functionality.
• Participate in testing activities during release cycles for delivered features.
• Collaborate with design teams to develop on-switch applications and OAM software features supporting Optical/Ethernet-based initiatives.

The must haves:

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Experience: Previous internship, co-op, or applied project experience relevant to the role.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Ability to contribute effectively to a team environment.
• Proficiency in embedded C programming.
• Proficiency in Python development.

Nice to haves:

• Experience with programming languages such as C, C++, Python, Go, or BASH.
• Familiarity with datacom and telecom concepts including Ethernet, TCP/IP, MPLS, DWDM.
• Knowledge of real-time software/firmware development and Linux-based development environments.
• Exposure to CLI, SNMP, NETCONF, REST, gRPC protocols.
• Hands-on experience with design and development tools such as Git, Eclipse, JIRA, Confluence, GDB, Yocto.
• Familiarity with YANG modeling language and toolchains.
• Interest in automation and testing practices.

Pay Range:

• The annual pay range for this position is $71,900 - $114,900

Pay ranges at Ciena are designed to accommodate variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions, and locations, reflecting our diverse products, industries, and lines of business. Please note that the pay range information provided in this posting pertains specifically to the primary location, which is the top location listed in case multiple locations are available.

Non-Sales employees may be eligible for a discretionary incentive bonus, while Sales employees may be eligible for a sales commission.
