Senior Distributed Systems Technologist

The Distributed Systems Technologist will be responsible for delivering on a range of exploratory projects within Digital Catapult’s Distributed Systems portfolio. These cover various non-financial applications of ‘Web3’ technologies (Distributed Ledger/blockchain, self-sovereign identity, peer-to-peer file sharing) and other allied technologies related to privacy preserving computation and data verification.

The role is highly varied and split between direct stakeholder engagement at senior level, communication through written reports and project meetings, and advising or partaking in software experimentation. Those hired at Senior level are expected to take a more hands-on role in project development and steering.

This role would also suit those with specialist expertise relevant to the field, such as cryptographers, or with non-technical but equally relevant expertise such as game theorists / behavioural economists.

What you’ll do:

• Study and communicate the benefits of decentralisation to overcome specific multi-organisational challenges
• Explore the parameters of appropriate deployment of these technologies with high profile partner organisations
• Engage with internal experts from a range of other technologies and specialties, including innovation, engineering, policy, market research, designers and product management
• Guide or undertake experimental development either individually or as part of a team (depending on your skill set)
• Work on creating project deliverables including written reports, internal and external presentations
• Continually improve your personal knowledge and skills in the field of distributed systems, project management, product management
