Senior Mechanical Engineer
TLDR
Coordinate end-to-end waste-handling plant projects from concept to commissioning, collaborating with cross-functional teams and suppliers.
- Execution of Waste Handling lots (cost, quality, schedule responsibility) under Equipment & Packages Engineering Manager coordination
- Coordination and delivery of Concept and Basic Engineering, including internal/external interface management
- Preparation of technical specifications for procurement packages (waste reception, storage, feeding systems, waste cranes, bottom ash cranes, and related equipment)
- Supplier selection, offer evaluation, and timely placement of purchase orders
- Supplier expediting during detailed engineering, including documentation control, inspections, and FATs
- Cross-functional collaboration with procurement, arrangement planning, civil, electrical, and process departments
- Interface clarification across disciplines and plant lots
- Installation/commissioning support, technical troubleshooting during project execution and operation, and knowledge transfer (standardization and lessons learned)
- Strong process and product knowledge in Waste Handling systems
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent (FH/ETH or technical university)
- Minimum 7 years of experience in industrial plant engineering
- Experience with crane systems (waste cranes, bottom ash cranes, bulk material handling, grab cranes preferred)
- Background in Energy from Waste, power generation, or heavy industry advantageous
- Experience in supplier management, procurement of complex systems, and multidisciplinary project teams
- Experience in project execution, supplier coordination, and delivery of complex mechanical systems in plant engineering
- Fluent English; German is an advantage, plus willingness to travel internationally (supplier visits, FATs, site support)
