TLDR

Design and optimize lunar spacecraft trajectories, develop in-house astrodynamics libraries, and support 24/7 flight dynamics operations.

ispace is looking for Senior Mission Analysis & Flight Dynamics engineer to join our growing team.

As a Senior Mission Analysis & Flight Dynamics engineer, you will support lunar missions by designing and optimizing spacecraft trajectories, analyzing mission performance, and developing flight dynamics tools. You will work closely with mission operations teams to ensure safe and efficient execution of lunar missions.

Responsibilities

  • Trajectory design. Support lunar mission design through trajectory analysis and optimization, generating launch windows while accounting for landing site, orbital, and mission constraints.

  • Covariance analysis. Optimize correction maneuvers by assessing and mitigating the impact of navigation and execution uncertainties.

  • Software engineering. Design, develop, and maintain in-house astrodynamics libraries to support mission analysis, trajectory design, and flight dynamics activities.

  • Requirements management. Contribute to the definition, traceability, verification, and validation of mission requirements.

  • Processes refinement. Identify inefficiencies in existing processes and develop improvements to enhance efficiency, quality, and reliability.

  • Operations. Support Flight Dynamics critical operations with Orbit Determination and Maneuver Planning for ispace’s lunar missions on a 24/7 environment.

Required skills

  • 5+ years of experience on Mission Analysis in in cis-lunar or deep space missions.

  • Professional experience with Orbital Mechanics libraries and tools: GMAT, STK, MONTE, Orekit, Godot or similar.

  • Professional software development experience: continuous maintenance, sprint-based delivery, testing activities, version control, dockerized environments.

    • Circular Restricted 3-Body Problem (CR3BP)

    • Covariance analysis

    • Lambert Transfer

    • B-plane targeting

Preferred skills

  • Flight Dynamics development and/or operations.

  • Knowledge about cislunar environment: ELFO, NRLO, Halo, etc.

  • Experience interfacing launch providers (e.g. Space-X, ULA, Ariane, MHI, Rocket Lab).

  • Experience using MONTE library.
