Senior Operations Manager, Provider Operations

$130,000 – $165,000 per year

TLDR

Build scalable recruiting funnels and onboarding workflows for court reporters through automation, process redesign, and cross-functional collaboration.

Senior Operations Manager, Provider Operations

Full-Time, Remote / Salary, Exempt / Includes Benefits, Equity

Steno is growing, and we're looking for an operator to build the engine behind how we recruit, hire, and onboard court reporters nationwide. This isn't a traditional recruiting role — it's an operations leadership role where recruiting happens to be the function you're running. You'll own the systems, processes, and team that turn "we need more reporters in this market" into a repeatable, scalable machine.

Who are you?

You're a systems thinker first. When you solve a problem, you're already asking how to make that solution work for the next 100 cases - through a product fix, a process change, an automation, or a new team workflow. You don't just do the work; you build the thing that does the work. You've managed a team before and you know how to set a bar, give direct feedback, and develop people while still being close enough to the work to jump in when it matters.

You're scrappy. You'd rather launch an imperfect process now and refine it in real time than wait for the perfect plan. You call balls and strikes - when something isn't working, you say so and move on to the next idea instead of defending a bad bet.

On a regular basis you will

  • Own end-to-end supply management and provider growth for court reporters nationwide - the systems and processes, not just the outcomes
  • Develop, structure and launch programs or tests on new sourcing channels, tools, or incentives to increase provider growth. Gather input from subject matter experts and track success to determine where we make future investments
  • Monitor provider growth performance weekly, reporting out and diagnosing regularly what’s working and what isn’t.
  • Manage and develop a team focused on sourcing, screening, and onboarding reporters, setting clear goals and holding a high bar
  • Identify where a manual, one-off fix should become a scaled solution — via process redesign, automation, or partnering with Product/Eng to build it
  • Build and continuously optimize the recruiting funnel from outbound sourcing through activation, instrumenting it so drop-off and bottlenecks are visible
  • Design onboarding workflows that get new reporters engaged and working fast, closing the gap where new additions fail to activate
  • Partner cross-functionally with Marketing, Product, Ops, and Data to build tools, collateral, and workflows that scale the team's output
  • Develop expert-level fluency in the court reporting industry — certifications, job types, and what different reporters value — fast enough to make good calls without waiting to be an expert

You'll thrive in this role if

  • You have 5+ years of experience in operations, recruiting, or marketplace/supply-chain management, including experience managing a team
  • You think in systems: you default to "how do we scale this" over "how do we get this one done"
  • You've managed people, especially junior or early-career team members, and know how to coach, set expectations, and hold a bar without micromanaging
  • You have experience building or scaling operational processes — recruiting, staffing, marketplace supply, or similar high-volume, high-throughput functions
  • You're comfortable owning a metric end-to-end: setting the target, building the plan, executing, and reporting honestly on results
  • You're biased toward action — you'd rather launch something imperfect and iterate than delay for certainty
  • You make fast, clear-eyed calls on what to keep and what to kill, and you move on without second-guessing
  • You can pick up a new industry quickly and get fluent in its mechanics without hand-holding
  • You're interpersonally savvy and build trust easily with people from different backgrounds and experience levels
