Who we are:

FanMaker is the largest provider of athletic team loyalty programs. FanMaker loyalty programs integrate social media, point-of-sale, ibeacon, and ticket scanning data into a comprehensive platform. Our goal is to capture every interaction a fan has with a team, and provide analytics and business insights so the team can better service them.

Who you are:

You have written a lot of Ruby code.  You know what ActiveRecord is capable of but also have the RDBMS experience to optimize queries by hand to make them performant.

You have spent time deploying Ruby codebases into a cloud stack that is not named Heroku--possibly via chef or puppet.  You know the differences between nginx and apache and can setup a webserver from scratch--but think that it is far better to automate a task like that.

You write tests for your code and have an opinion about when they are useful and when they are not.  You have read enough code to know that tests make for great documentation but can also parse your way through something with a lot of red in rcov.

You have built out APIs in the past.  You have opinions about REST vs SOAP and can list your favorite APIs to work with.

You have worked in a small startup environment before.  You understand that startups are fast moving and sometimes need to pivot to get things right, but that is what makes them exciting.

You aren't happy unless you can say that you are a better hacker this week than you were last week.

How we work: 

We are a small but growing team so everyone leaves their mark on all aspects of the codebase.  We have multiple Rails and PHP applications that power the Rewards platform (with PHP being phased out) deployed to AWS.  We have Phonegap powered mobile applications, and even a browser plugin or two.  This means that you will get to do what you're best at but also get to learn something new and expand your skillset regularly.

Everyone ships code here--daily.  We iterate to get the product right and are willing to experiment to test ideas.  

Everyone is expected to take ownership of their work and while your peers are always ready to help, we are building a team of people that can take advantage of the autonomy to make their own engineering choices.
