Senior Software Engineer- Backend

The team you would join:
The Global Analytics and Technology function at Greenlight Planet helps us build technology enabled solutions based on data driven insights. We have a team of data scientists, data engineers, analysts, technical architects, android developers, web designers, backend engineers, product managers and UI/UX developers working on developing cutting edge solutions for the underserved billions to solve our business problems (Example: last mile delivery, Credit underwriting, credit risk management, Distribution channel digitization, churn management etc.)

About the role:
The Senior Software Engineer- Backend will work as part of the Engineering team to help Greenlight Planet design, develop and implement intelligent, tech-enabled solutions to help solve a large variety of our Business problems.
We are looking for candidates with an affinity for technology and automations, curiosity towards advancement in products and strong coding skills for our in house software development team. Moreover, the candidate should be self-driven, eager learner and demonstrate great attention to detail.  

What you would be expected to do:
> Working on a disruptive product that's still in its early stages
> Responsible to drive innovation in Software Development, while relentlessly improving performance, scalability, and maintainability.
> Owning the design process, implementation, and verification of framework components leveraging standard software engineering methodologies.
> Translating functional and technical requirements into detailed architecture and design.
> Mentoring and inspiring other engineers, defining our technical culture, and helping to build a fast-growing team.   

You might be a strong candidate if you:
> Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field from premium institutes.
> 4 to 5 years of proven experience designing and implementing a backend application.
> Knowledge of, at least, one modern high level programming language.
> Computer Science fundamentals in data structures, algorithm design, problem solving, and complexity analysis.
> Have a demonstrable track record of success delivering new features or products in cloud-based architectures.
> Good understanding of technologies & tech ecosystem around application development for > Internet/mobile (Devops Tech, Analytics, REST, GraphQL, gRPC, ProtoBuf etc.)
> Must have expertise on designing software applications from the ground-up (Knowledge of data modelling, application designing, API design etc)
> Must have a good understanding of Queuing Solutions (Kafka, ActiveMQ, SQS), Search Solutions (Elastic Search, Solr) and Data persistence solutions (MySQL, PSQL, Mongo, Redis etc.)
Have strong OO design and implementation experience with deep knowledge of the use of web services.
> Care about the quality of their code and delight end-users with top-notch user experience.
> Experience translating design mockups and prototypes into working application designs.   

Great to have:
> Be clearly passionate about start-up-like opportunities.
> Demonstrate strong ownership of their work and mentor junior team members.
> Good understanding of Docker, Kubernetes
> Proven expertise on development of high-performance high-traffic applications with good understanding of measuring results and identifying application bottlenecks quickly.
> Understanding of software development practices such as Agile, TDD, Testing Automation, Performance and Load testing.
