About the Role:

Fubo is looking for talented individuals to join our fast-growing company on our Fubo Networks Playout Team.  The ideal candidates must be knowledgeable and experienced with master control playout systems in a broadcast setting.  Additionally the Playout Engineer will be responsible for architectural design, implementation, and documentation in the context of cloud-based live ABR video encoding environments.

Responsibilities:

• Designing and implementing a MVPD-based live channel playout system feeding our ABR video encoding and packaging system.
• Work with multiple teams to align and schedule upcoming live events for playout.
• Work with vendors and partners on an ongoing basis to validate signal quality and delivery, and  drive feature development and bug fixes.
• Maintain system design and process documentation in the team knowledge base.
• Identify new tools to scale playout and improve operational processes and control costs.
• Provide operational support as needed to programming teams, and live event engineers during live events.
• Capable of performing routine maintenance tasks to ensure equipment efficiency and longevity, who is also flexible enough to work overnight as necessary. l
• Deploy and maintain new system components to scale playout systems to support business needs.

Required Skills:

• Have 5+ years of experience operating playout automation systems in a live master control environment at a television/cable/MVPD (or similar) provider
• Maintain and grow professional relationships with internal and external business stakeholders
• Weekend and Off Hour availability (late hours and/or weekends) to monitor broadcasts and support live events; address mission-critical incidents as they arise; escalating as necessary to on-call teams and business partners
• Understanding of various video and audio codecs such as AVC, HEVC, AAC, E-AC3 with emphasis on video/audio quality
• Understanding of network protocols, security and routing protocols
• Understanding of various streaming packaging methods such as HLS and DASH
• Understanding of various multimedia transport protocols such as: RTP, RTMP, SRT, UDP, Zixi
• Familiarity with SSAI
• Familiarity with Amazon MediaConnect
• Familiarity with DRM and content encryption, including 3rd-party integrations
• Familiarity with different CDN vendors and their systems (e.g. Akamai, Level3, Fastly, etc.)
• Familiarity with enterprise MPEG Analysis tools, such as Tektronix, Ineoquest, Elecard, etc
• Familiarity with cloud deployments (Docker, AWS EC2/ECS, Google Cloud Compute/Storage)
• Familiarity with testing environments, and development of scenarios
• Familiarity with script writing/automation using languages such as Python, Ruby, etc. and utilizing REST API’s for configuration/feedback loop

Fubo’s minimum base salary for this role if hired in New York City is $145,000 per year; maximum base salary for this role is $177,000 per year. Additionally, this role is eligible to participate in Fubo's equity plan, unlimited PTO, and a full range of medical benefits. Final offer amount will be at the company’s sole discretion and determined by multiple factors, including years and depth of experience and expertise, location and other business considerations. This role is also available to candidates outside of the New York City area: different salary minimum and maximum compensation ranges may apply based on applicable market data and other factors at the company’s sole discretion.
