Airtasker is a fast growing online and mobile marketplace for local services and temporary labour. We're revolutionising the way people and businesses get more done by connecting real time labour requirements with one of the world's most under utilised assets - people power.

After recently raising $22M in funding lead by Seven West Media, we are continuing our rapid growth trajectory. Built on a Ruby on Rails backend, we have a team of strong Ruby on Rails team looking to build scale and grow features on our platform.

What you’ll be doing

• Building Ruby on Rails API with single-page-app Javascript frontend
• Scoping new features for the platform with the Product and UX teams
• Contributing to the engineering roadmap
• Managing multiple projects across the business simultaneously

You will have these skills and experience:

Essential

• Minimum of 3-5 years commercial Ruby/Rails experience
• 
Full stack experience preferred 

• Degree in Computer Science / Engineering or related IT discipline 

• Experience working with and building APIs to achieve scale 

• Practical PostgreSQL experience 

• Experience with Git 
Experience in performing optimisations such as caching/asset CDNs 

• Work in an Agile manner, iterating through user stories and applying Test Driven Development techniques
• Solid monitoring focus with tools such as New Relic
• 
Merchant gateway knowledge
• 
Experience in using various testing frameworks for automated testing
• Excellent English communication skills 


Desirable

• Experience with JavaScript frameworks including ReactJS, BackboneJS and NodeJS
• Worked with Elasticsearch
• Working knowledge of software testing methods and quality assurance
• Contributed to the open source community
• Interest in the startup and technology community
