Surgical Data Annotator

Digital Surgery is a data-driven company implementing cutting-edge AI technology, computer vision, and augmented reality to the operating room (OR) and surgical training. The DS1 is our first OR device, allowing surgeons, OR team members, and trainees to securely access videos of their procedures shortly after surgery. The device uses advanced AI algorithms that enable automatic processing and uploading of videos. Our surgical training platform is the award-winning Touch Surgery application that provides safe and accessible training for surgeons and other health care professionals.

Our data must be carefully annotated and categorised, in order to support the pioneering solutions we provide to our partners and customers. As a Surgical Data Annotator, you will be responsible for tagging, labelling and categorizing surgical video content. This annotation process provides clear and measurable data for our customers (healthcare professionals), whilst also identifying patterns to improve our AI technology.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Annotate images and videos with bounding boxes, attributes and segmentation masks for use in computer vision technology.
• Work collaboratively with machine learning engineers, data scientists, and medical liaisons to help develop machine learning/deep learning/conventional imaging processing algorithms.
• Work with colleagues and internal subject-matter experts to continually advance our annotation guidelines. Ultimately you will own the guidelines for certain annotation projects and will be responsible for maintaining and updating these as required.
• Annotate video or frame data assigned to you within established time frames.
• Be able to explain surgical steps /procedures/terminology to others from a non-healthcare background in a non-complex way.

Requirements

REQUIRED EDUCATION

• Degrees in life sciences, biomedical science, pharmacy, nursing, midwifery or other healthcare fields are highly desirable, or equivalent experience
• Preference will be given to candidates with experience in urology, general surgery, colorectal surgery and;
• Preference will be given to candidates with previous experience in data labelling.
