Technical Sales Engineer – IoT & Smart Building Automation
TLDR
Define repeatable IoT architectures and standards to deploy smart building solutions across hundreds of customer locations.
Keedian (formerly Tutenlabs) is transforming how buildings operate — combining technology implementation, AI-powered optimization, and managed services to help multi-site organizations cut costs, reduce emissions, and move from reactive fixes to predictive performance.
Our vision is clear: a future where buildings run autonomously, so our clients can focus on what matters most.
- Location: Hybrid – We prioritize candidates based in Mexico (CDMX, Puebla, Querétaro, Edo. Méx.), with availability to travel to customer sites as needed.
- Visa: Must currently hold, or be able to obtain prior to employment, a valid U.S. B1/B2 Visitor Visa for business travel to the United States.
What this role is about
We're looking for an engineer who combines electronics, IoT, and Building Automation expertise with the ability to transform technology into scalable commercial solutions.
Rather than designing one-off projects, you'll define the technical standards that Keedian uses to deploy smart building solutions across hundreds of customer locations. You'll create repeatable IoT architectures, standardize hardware and connectivity, support the commercial team during presales, and ensure implementations delivered by contractors meet Keedian's quality standards.
This role sits at the intersection of Product, Engineering, Sales, and Delivery, helping turn innovative technologies into practical, cost-efficient solutions for retail stores, restaurants, banks, and other multi-site commercial environments.
Responsibilities
- Design and standardize IoT architectures for smart building deployments, creating scalable reference solutions using Keedian Link, LoRaWAN, MQTT, BACnet, Modbus, and other building communication technologies that can be adapted to different customer needs and budgets.
- Define and maintain Keedian's standard technology stack by evaluating new hardware, communication protocols, gateways, sensors, controllers, and networking equipment, while developing repeatable reference architectures and Bills of Materials (BOMs) that optimize scalability, simplicity, and cost.
- Partner with the Sales team to translate customer requirements into technical solutions, preparing solution architectures, scopes of work, BOMs, and technical proposals, while participating in customer meetings to present and position the most appropriate solution for each opportunity.
- Ensure engineering quality throughout project execution by reviewing contractor designs, validating field installations and commissioning activities, and confirming that implementations comply with Keedian's engineering standards while proactively identifying technical risks and recommending corrective actions.
- Drive continuous improvement by capturing lessons learned from deployments, enhancing technical documentation and implementation standards, and contributing to the evolution of Keedian's IoT platform, gateway ecosystem, and engineering best practices.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electronics Engineering, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, Automation, or a related field.
- 3–5+ years of experience in IoT, Smart Buildings, Building Automation, or technical solutions engineering.
- Strong understanding of IoT architectures and edge-to-cloud connectivity.
- Experience with LoRaWAN and MQTT.
- Knowledge of BACnet, Modbus, and building automation communication protocols.
- Experience designing technical solutions, hardware selection, and Bills of Materials.
- Understanding of HVAC controls, energy metering, lighting, or refrigeration systems.
- Basic networking knowledge, including VPNs, cellular routers, and remote connectivity.
- Strong customer-facing communication skills.
- Analytical mindset with a focus on standardization and cost optimization.
- Comfortable using AI tools in your daily workflow.
- Fluent English and Spanish.
- Availability to travel to customer sites as needed.
Nice to Have
- Experience with Niagara Framework or other BAS platforms.
- Experience with Siemens Desigo, Honeywell, Johnson Controls, Schneider Electric, or similar platforms.
- Knowledge of BLE, Zigbee, or other wireless IoT technologies.
- Experience with Cloud IoT platforms.
- Experience with energy analytics or Fault Detection & Diagnostics (FDD).
- Experience working with vendors such as Milesight, Teltonika, Accuenergy, Carel, or similar.
