Visual UI/UX Designer

Houseplans.com is looking for an experienced UI/UX Designer to lead our creative app design efforts.
Location: 3rd and Mission St. San Francisco, CA
Houseplans offers tens of thousands of home design plans, many from world-renowned architects, making the once-expensive, and complex process of designing or renovating your home simple and affordable. We are building new social and mobile applications to help millions of people find their dream house design. As our UI/UX Designer, you will be instrumental to building our next generation of mobile and social applications.
You will work closely with executive management and business teams to define strategy and requirements, create beautiful, highly usable and consistent UI/UX frameworks and implement solutions as a member of our technology team, reporting to CTO. Excellent listening and writing skills and front-end technical competencies are essential.
Responsibilities:
- Work within a collaborative team to design and develop a new social application
- Create the visual design and UI/UX for a mobile version of the current site
- Develop wireframes based on a thorough understanding of user behaviors and expectations
- Quickly create compelling visual prototypes
- Understand how your designs will translate to working HTML/CSS
- Working knowledge in Advanced CSS3, Javascript is a plus. Mentoring is readily available
Qualified candidates will have:
- 2+ years professional interactive design experience
- Strong working knowledge of CSS and designing with HTML5
- Experience using Adobe Suite, particularly Illustrator and Photoshop
- Experience with Omnigraffle, Sketch or Balsamiq is preferred
- A love of great design applied to commercial and social media business
- A strong portfolio of examples of your individual and group work
- Ability and willingness to iterate on multiple design choices
