VP of Finance
VP of Finance- M.Gemi
We are looking for a VP of Finance to lead the finance operations for M. Gemi, reporting directly to the CFO. In this role you will oversee the accounting, financial planning and analysis, monthly reporting and analysis, financial operations and financial systems. You will manage a team consisting of a controller, accountants and analysts. You will be a member of the Company’s leadership team and be a key contributor at the Executive and Board levels. The ideal candidate will have a CPA/MBA and a minimum of 10 years progressive financial management experience.

M.Gemi is an early stage direct-to-consumer business founded in 2014 by serial entrepreneurs. It is a fast growing, dynamic company that is disrupting the traditional luxury product marketplace from both a supply chain and distribution perspective. M.Gemi has created a distinctive brand and developed a coveted line of luxury products including shoes and accessories, all handcrafted in Italy. We leverage technology and data science to create a business that can move faster and more consistently than traditional consumer product companies. The team consists of over 50 associates located in Boston, NYC and Florence Italy.
Role
The VP of Finance will be responsible for all finance functions in the business. The right individual will be structured and disciplined, have a natural curiosity into the detail operations of the business, have an ability to drive results through analyses, be a strong communicator and a great collaborator/team player.
Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Financial Planning & Analysis:
- Serve as a strategic financial business partner to the CEO, CFO and Executive Management team
- Lead the annual budget process
- Prepare monthly budget to actual analyses of key drivers and results
- Identify financial improvement opportunities and collaborate with the leadership team to implement
- Prepare financial reporting as required for Board meetings, investors, lenders, etc.
- Manage financial analyst(s)
Accounting and Control
- Establish and/or maintain all corporate accounting policies and procedures
- Maintain the books of the company in accordance with generally accepted accounting policies
- Manage the financial controls related to revenue, costs of goods sold and operating expenses
- Manage the financial aspects of the company’s Italian subsidiary and operations
- Assist the CFO in overall cash management
- Partner with the planning team to manage inventory
- Maintain direct relationships with the company’s bank and lender
- Partner with the CFO and HR team to manage payroll systems, insurance coverage and regulatory compliance
- Own and manage the company’s ERP system
- Manage the annual audit by the company’s public accounting firm
- Ensure that federal, state and local tax reporting compliance requirements and other filings are met
- Manage the controller and accounting staff

- Build a world class finance organization that excels in financial planning, analysis, accounting and compliance
- Instill an inquisitive, proactive mindset in the team to establish the finance department as a valued business partner
- Contribute to the overall culture of the organization
Profile
The ideal candidate will fulfill the following requirements:
- Bachelors Degree in Accounting/Finance/Business required
- CPA qualifications and public accounting experience
- MBA a plus
- At least 10 years of progressive financial management experience in public/private sectors
- Experience with leading budgeting and forecasting processes
- Strong knowledge of US GAAP, internal controls, operational risk assessment and financial reporting
- Early stage/venture funded business experience
- Ecommerce and/ or retail experience
- Netsuite or similar ERP experience
- Strong user of technology
- Excellent communication and relationship building skills with an ability to prioritize, negotiate, and work with a variety of internal and external stakeholders
- Independent, self-directed and self-motivated
