Welfare Administrator
TLDR
Maintain and audit member benefit entitlements under Trust Funds per Collective Agreements, guiding delinquency and reporting processes.
The Welfare Administrator will:
Learn and understand the applicable Collective Agreements. Receive employer contribution reports on daily basis and ensure payments accurately match the report. Balance and audit reports, confirming hours, rates, calculations and additional information. Process company adjustments on system. Detailed analysis of employer reporting is required to ensure accuracy.
Generate and analyze various reports to identify and reconcile any company imbalances or irregularities Follow BPA delinquency guide for companies with outstanding balances.
Respond to enquiries from Union representatives, companies and members regarding eligibility, vacation pay and other issues.
Assist union representatives’ enquiries regarding company, and member reports.
Request and distribute cheques from Accounting Department at month end.
Assist employers to complete documentation and reports for submission to BPA.
Process disability applications and confirm proof of disability.
Enter WSIB credits for all plans monthly.
Balance deposit slips on a monthly basis
Administer vacation pay garnishments, early releases
Run various monthly queries to assist in monthly reporting.
Key Contacts/Relationships External and Internal:
Reports directly to the Account Manager
Works cooperatively with Client Services Manager responsible for facilitating communication between Union Representatives /Staff and BPA
Works cooperatively as a member of the I.U.P.A.T. Trust Fund administration team to provide superior customer service
Deals directly with participating employers, benefit plan participants/members and their dependents and Union Representatives
To be Successful as a Welfare Administrator with BPA, you will need:
Knowledgeable on relevant Collective Agreement and associated benefit plan.
Knowledge of the BPA Delinquency Guide, and ability to apply guidelines to day-to-day work.
Ability to closely analyze and focus on detailed reporting and investigate discrepancies.
Ability to organize and prioritize workload.
Ability to multi-task, work under pressure and meet deadlines.
PC proficient with strong knowledge of Microsoft Office: Excel, Word and Outlook
Good mathematical ability and basic knowledge of accounting principles
Ability to learn complexities of group benefit packages
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Cooperative team player with strong interpersonal skills
Exceptional customer service skills.

The base salary for this position is between $48,500 - $54,236.63 annually.
The actual base salary will vary depending on local market conditions, geography and relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience, and education/training. If you are selected to move forward in our recruitment process, the Talent Acquisition Specialist will be able to provide additional details of the total compensation for this role.
