Yard Driver - Class A CDL
TLDR
Move, stage, inspect, and prepare flatbed and tanker trailers while coordinating yard operations and occasional local runs.
$21/hour | Full-Time | 1st Shift | Waterloo, IA
A-Line is looking for a dependable Yard Driver to help keep our Waterloo operation moving. This is primarily a yard-driving position, with some small local runs as needed.
What You'll Do
- Move and position trailers throughout the yard for loading and unloading
- Drop and hook trailers in various areas of the yard
- Safely maneuver flatbed and tanker trailers
- Make occasional small local runs as needed
- Stage trailers and equipment for daily operations
- Back trailers into designated areas
- Clean and prepare trailers for loading and unloading
- Perform basic trailer inspections
- Communicate with plant and operations teams to coordinate trailer movement
- Follow all DOT, company, and safety requirements
- Help keep the yard organized and operating efficiently
- Perform other driving and yard duties as needed
What We're Looking For
- Valid Class A CDL required
- Safe driving record
- Previous CDL/commercial driving experience preferred
- Comfortable backing and maneuvering trailers in tight spaces
- Experience with flatbed or tanker trailers is a plus
- Comfortable working around heavy equipment and an industrial environment
- Dependable and safety-minded
- Able to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Willing to perform hands-on work, including cleaning trailers
- Good communication and teamwork skills
