This is a high impact role that involves cross-functional partnership with Data Science, Engineering, and Product.

You will:

  • Manage credit risk for a portfolio of new and existing small to medium-sized businesses
  • Analyze account activity and monitor portfolio trends to identify opportunities for Stripe to reduce potential credit losses
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams like Data Science and Engineering to tailor credit risk management techniques to different geographies, industries, and business models
  • Help scale risk processes by working with internal/external partners to design and optimize outsourced workflows
  • Leverage your analytical skills to provide credit risk recommendations, deliver insights, and support strategic business decisions
  • Refine tools and processes to help the group deliver on key performance indicators
  • Help drive a risk-centric approach to innovating Stripe’s products and infrastructure
  • Challenge the payments industry status quo to help enable innovative businesses to flourish online

Our ideal candidate is:

  • Naturally curious and a problem solver: You’re passionate about tackling complex problems using data, and your intuition helps quickly guide you to the root cause.
  • Decisive, yet open to learning: you will make many critical decisions every day impacting large numbers of merchants. You are willing to make these difficult decisions and quickly learn and iterate from these experiences. You are skilled at using data to drive decisions.
  • Understanding and empathetic to the challenges of setting up a new business: You will thoughtfully balance scaled enforcement decisions with user experience.
  • Analytical: You are passionate about data analysis and can frame business decisions and tradeoffs effectively through quantitative analysis and visualization. You have at least intermediate SQL skills and have experience in applying these skills to provide insights and drive recommendations.
  • An excellent communicator and team player: You are able to convey complex ideas succinctly and work effectively across teams.
  • Effective in managing projects: You have demonstrated project-management skills and the ability to drive execution on impactful, cross-functional projects.
  • Has 6+ years of relevant professional experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Statistics, Finance, Business, Computer Science, Engineering or other quantitative or related field

Nice to have(s):

  • Experience with quantitative tools such as Python, R, or Stata
  • Experience with payments, risk, or trust & safety
  • Experience working with machine learning teams
  • Experience working in fast-paced and rapidly changing start-up environments
