About the job:

The Field Sales Engineer is responsible for developing and driving sales of Alfa Laval’s solutions within the Ocean Division, managing customer relationships, and identifying new business opportunities across Panama and the Caribbean territory.

This role is highly focused on field engagement within the marine and power generation industries, combining technical and commercial expertise to deliver value to customers—from shipping companies to power plants—while collaborating closely with our internal teams to support their operational goals.

Responsibilities include:

  • Develop and manage a portfolio of customers within Panama and the Caribbean (including Aruba, Granada, among others), building strong and long-term relationships.
  • Identify, qualify, and pursue new business opportunities focused on power generation plants and the maritime sector (e.g., tankers, bunkers, Panama Canal network).
  • Promote and sell new equipment, plant upgrades, and service agreements, clearly communicating Alfa Laval’s value propositions and differentiators.
  • Conduct frequent regional customer visits to understand their technical needs and position our solutions.
  • Manage the full sales cycle with a strong focus on results, while also taking on the long-term challenge of developing the local market in Panama.
  • Collaborate seamlessly with internal teams, particularly Inside Sales, to deliver tailored and competitive solutions.
  • Maintain an accurate pipeline, forecasts, and activity tracking in CRM tools following established sales processes.
  • Travel within the assigned territory to support business development activities.

What you know:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Naval Engineering, Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related fields.
  • 3–4 years of experience in technical or field sales, preferably within technological supplies, automation, or the marine/energy sectors.
  • Advanced English.
  • Strong networking, judgment, and decision-making skills with an autonomous, highly organized, and proactive personality.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills to interact effectively in a multicultural, international environment.
  • Agility, leadership, and a strong customer-focused, results-driven mindset.
  • Availability to travel regionally across the Caribbean and Panama.
