Head of Asia Compliance – Asset Management Compliance
Job Description:
The Role
As the leader for the Asia Compliance Team, you will proactively lead support provided to the investment professionals including portfolio monitoring and maintenance of controls for the investment management business to ensure risks and exposures are adequately assessed and mitigated. You will be responsible for collaborating with the teams in the United States to deliver portfolio monitoring, client onboarding and rule management, regulatory reporting, and trade oversight and surveillance for the global investment management activities.
This position facilitates the continuous evolution of Asset Management Compliance (AMC)’s program, while actively identifying and responding to emerging risks and events requiring attention in a dynamic environment driven by service, market, regulatory, process and product changes.
In this role you will build and maintain strong working relationships with Fidelity senior management, providing timely awareness of key risks, issues, and results to Asset Management leaders.
The Value You Deliver
Act as FMR (Hong Kong)’s Manager-in-Charge for Compliance, Risk Management, Anti-Money Laundering / Counter-Terrorism Financing under Hong Kong Securities & Futures Commission (SFC) jurisdiction
Provide periodic reporting to the Directors of the Hong Kong Adviser’s board and the Trade Oversight Committee members
Correspond as vital with the regulators in Asian jurisdictions
You will manage a team of individuals that are primarily responsible for the following activities:
Providing strategic guidance on complex regulatory matters, assessing regulatory developments, and coordinating end-to-end management of regulatory change for Asia in collaboration with the AMC team in the United States
Maintaining and building new compliance programs, overseeing various program requirements, including product and adviser compliance in Asian jurisdictions
Building a global compliance program to address the advisers’ distribution of products and services in Asian locations
Monitoring portfolio investments against regulatory, client, and internal policy limitations and for preventing or detecting potential violations in a timely manner
Developing and reporting key results and metrics to senior management and boards as appropriate
The Expertise You Have
20+ years of industry-related experience
MBA, JD or other advanced degree is preferred
Strong understanding of mutual fund industry, securities markets, and buy-side trading
Broad familiarity with global requirements for advisers availing products of global distribution
Solid understanding of Hong Kong SFC regulatory requirements
A deep understanding of regulatory and corporate compliance matters
Ability to think, influence and act quickly in response to issues
