Flatpay is a fast-growing European payments company on a mission to make card payments simple and transparent for merchants. We operate across seven markets — Denmark, Germany, Finland, France, the UK, Italy, and the Netherlands — and we're building the infrastructure and team to scale further. We're proud of the culture we've built: direct, ambitious, and grounded in doing things right.
What you'll do
We're looking for a Head of Fraud to join our team in Amsterdam and take full ownership of fraud risk across our merchant portfolio. This is a hands-onleadership role: you'll define strategy, build and lead a team, and work closely withour acquiring partners, product, and commercial teams to keep our portfoliohealthy as we grow. You'll be the person who both sets the direction and gets into the details — comfortable reading chargeback data in the morning and presenting risk strategy to senior leadership in the afternoon. What you'll own
- Fraud strategy and policy — define and maintain Flatpay's fraud risk framework across all markets, balancing risk appetite with commercial growth
- Chargeback and dispute management - lead the end-to-end chargeback process, manage scheme thresholds, and drive dispute resolution efficiency
- Fraud operations and tooling - oversee the tools and processes used to detect, investigate, and prevent fraud, and identify where we can improve or automate
- Risk analytics and reporting - build the data visibility needed to monitor portfolio health, spot emerging threats, and report clearly to leadership
- Team leadership — hire, develop, and manage a fraud team; set priorities and create a high-performance environment
- Acquirer and scheme relationships — act as the primary point of contact on fraud-related matters with our acquiring partners and card schemes
Who you are
What we are looking for- Experience in fraud, risk, or payments — ideally in a card-present or acquiring context
- Strong grasp of chargeback mechanics, card scheme rules, and fraud typologies across European markets
- Analytical mindset — you're comfortable working with data and can translate it into decisions
- Clear communicator who can work across commercial, technical, and operational stakeholders
- Experience working in a fast-growing, international environment
- Experience managing fraud across multiple markets simultaneously
- Familiarity with the acquiring and payment processing landscape
- Background in fintech or merchant acquiring
- A senior role with real ownership and direct impact on Flatpay's growth
- A collaborative, no-nonsense team that moves fast and trusts each other
- The chance to build something — this role comes with the mandate to shapehow Flatpay approaches fraud for years to come
