The Role
The Head of Privacy (DPO) reports to the Chief Legal and Compliance Officer and is part of Flo’s Legal & Compliance function.
Legal & Compliance acts as a gatekeeper to Flo Health, providing advice and assistance in complying with relevant compliance obligations, including interpretation of relevant laws, and guidance on the implementation of internal policies and procedures. The department's a driver of change within the organisation with a focus of making the product and internal processes more and more compliant.
As a result, each and every one of our newest members should be hands-on, pragmatic, and both user, and business, focused. Our ideal DPO is energetic, problem-solving, and aspirational.
What you will be doing:
- Creating, maintaining and supervising Flo’s Privacy vision and strategy.
- Maintaining, executing, and enforcing of Flo’s Privacy programme, including group-wide policy, framework, guidance, and standards for all teams and colleagues.
- Setting appropriate mechanisms for reporting on the progress of Flo’s Privacy programme to external and internal stakeholders, including the establishment of success and progress metrics.
- Ensuring productisation of privacy and data protection requirements through collaboration with relevant stakeholders and setting appropriate working protocols with Product, Engineering, and Marketing.
- Leading company-wide privacy initiatives.
- Leading education and awareness efforts on privacy and data protection.
- Driving business change in relation to data protection compliance processes and projects.
- Leading efforts in maximizing the value of the team, including through the establishment of adequate reporting, data usage, coaching, and feedback analytics.
- Leading a UK/EU based team consisting of 2 privacy counsels, a program manager, a privacy project manager, and a legal assistant.
- Managing and coordinating a network of privacy champions as well as ensuring its efficiency and effectiveness.
- Ensuring proper planning and budgeting of privacy-related expenses, including third-party fees, software, and staffing.
- Supervising Flo’s ongoing regulatory requests and other GR-related issues.
- Primary reporting to the group’s Chief Legal & Compliance Officer.
- Secondary reporting to the Privacy & Security Steering Committee (Flo’s senior leadership) and the Board of Directors (provision of highlights, attendance of annual meetings).
What we're looking for:
Essential:
- 10+ years of experience in privacy and data protection.
- 5+ years of experience in privacy leadership roles.
- Proven record of work in developing tech companies - good understanding of the product design and software development lifecycle.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- CIPP certifications (CIPP/E, CIPM, CIPT or similar).
- Good knowledge of agile techniques and collaboration tools (Confluence, JIRA, Miro)
- Good knowledge of privacy-specific software (e.g., OneTrust).
- Good knowledge of security aspects of privacy.
- Good understanding of how growing product organizations work, what challenges they face, and how privacy should be embedded by design.
Desirable:
- Multilingual
- Law degree (Bachelors or Masters)
- Experience working in the HealthTech, MedTech or Digital Health environments.
