The HR Business Partner will provide HR advice and support on a wide range of strategic and operational Human Resources issues in a nominated region of the Resources and Energy (R&E) division, and more widely across the business when required.

- Operate as an integral part of the R&E management team, taking the lead on HR matters and supporting the achievement of HR and wider objectives detailed in the Biffa Balanced Business Plan.
- Participate in regional/functional periodic and ad-hoc business meetings
- Monitor and support the completion of performance and leadership reviews
- Work with operational teams in the business area to devise development and succession plans
- Promote and drive the employee engagement agenda, particularly by assisting with completion and execution of engagement plans.
- Provide advice to supported functions on HR policies, remuneration, working hours, terms & conditions of employment, procedures and best practices
- Facilitate the management of dismissal situations as necessary, including any Employment Tribunal claims
- Advise on all employment law issues
- Plan and oversee management of organisational change and local consultation exercises regarding redundancies, TUPE matters etc
- Work with operational management teams to successfully conclude any local collective bargaining/grievance issues
- Prepare monthly and other reports for submission to Divisional HR Director; preparation of analytical data as required (e.g. analysis of wage offer implications etc.)
- Preparation for, and presentation of, HR-based training workshops as required
- Advise and assist operational management with recruitment as required
- Develop and maintain collaborative and productive relationships with service areas, colleagues and employee representatives, establishing professional credibility.
Requirements
- Full CIPD or equivalent qualification
- Considerable commercial HR experience in a decision making role
- Experience of senior business partnering, preferably up to and including Business Unit Director level
- Professional knowledge of employment law and its practical application
- Conversant with all employment-related Codes of Practice etc
- Awareness of pay, pensions and benefits issues
- Knowledge of working hours and shift rostering alternatives
- Confident with all Microsoft Applications including Outlook, Excel and Word
- Confident and articulate with the ability to influence at all levels
- Able to conceive and produce written correspondence and reports, often in response to complex HR issues
- Resilient with the ability to work effectively under pressure
- Well organsied with excellent attention to detail and the ability to prioritise effectively
