Senior, Sales Engineer
TLDR
Design healthcare solutions through Epic, HL7, ServiceNow, and RTLS integrations, then validate them with demos and proofs of concept.
About Kontakt.io
Inside health systems, where every second can matter, operations are still spread across dozens of disconnected tools and platforms.Kontakt.io is changing that.
We combine proprietary hardware, AI-powered intelligence, and deep integrations with the technology health systems already have in place to build real-time understanding of what's happening across their operations. That intelligence becomes the execution layer care teams have been missing, helping them make smarter decisions and deliver better patient care.
Backed by Goldman Sachs and trusted by leading health systems including HCA Healthcare, Sutter Health, AdventHealth, Trinity Health, Northwell Health, Cleveland Clinic, and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, we’ve more than doubled our revenue and are rapidly scaling with a clear path toward $100M in annual recurring revenue.
If you're excited to solve hard problems and help health systems deliver better care, we'd love to meet you!
About the Role
As a Sales Engineer, you are part of a team of technical experts in the Kio Advisory. You will partner with Sales, Product, and Professional Services to design solutions for the top challenges facing health systems today. You prove those solutions work through demos and POCs, and you build lasting technical trust with customers.
What You'll Do
Partner with Sales to qualify opportunities, scope solutions, build proposals, and design implementation approaches.
Lead discovery sessions with clinical, operational, and IT stakeholders to uncover challenges and map them to our platform, with a focus on patient flow and care operations.
Deliver compelling demos, solution presentations, and PoCs that connect our technology to clinical and financial outcomes.
Field deep technical questions live on sales calls, covering data architecture, APIs, security, and integrations, and follow up with accurate written answers (RFPs, security questionnaires, architecture reviews).
Design integration approaches with hospital systems such as Epic and other EHRs, ServiceNow, and nurse call and other HL7-based systems.
Design RTLS and location-based solutions using Kontakt.io and partner infrastructure.
Create technical documentation, statements of work (SOWs), and solution designs.
Use AI tools to accelerate your own work, such as research, demo and PoC prep, proposal drafting, and call follow-up, and share what works with the team.
Bring customer feedback to Product Management to shape roadmap priorities.
Deliver onboarding and training for internal teams, partners, and customers.
Travel approximately 40% for onsite customer visits, pilots, and go-lives.
What We're Looking For
5 years in Solutions Engineering, Pre-sales, or a similar customer-facing technical role (strong candidates with 1-3 years and relevant healthcare exposure will be considered).
A natural presence with customers: warm, personable, and credible with both executives and clinicians, and able to explain complex technology in plain language.
Technical depth to handle tough questions in real time. You can comfortably discuss SaaS architecture, REST APIs, cloud infrastructure (AWS preferred), and security basics without needing a follow-up call.
Working knowledge of data lakehouse concepts (e.g., Databricks, Snowflake, Delta/Iceberg), including how real-time event data lands, is modeled, and is exposed for analytics.
Familiarity with healthcare integration patterns and standards: HL7 v2 (ADT, ORU, nurse call/alerting feeds), FHIR, interface engines, and integrations with Epic and ServiceNow.
An AI-forward mindset: you already use AI tools in your daily work, and you are curious about how AI and ML can improve the product and the customer conversation.
Hands-on experience with technical demos, pilots, PoCs, and solution validation.
Scripting ability in Python, JavaScript, or similar.
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent experience.
Preferred Experience
Experience with patient flow, capacity management, bed management, or similar clinical operations applications, or a demonstrated ability to interface with a clinical audience (nurses, physicians, patient access, transport, EVS).
Prior work with Epic (Bridges, Interconnect, Clarity or Caboodle) or other EHR integrations.
Familiarity with RTLS, BLE, WiFi, or other location technologies.
Networking, IT infrastructure, or hospital IT security review experience.
Docker, relational databases, or cloud-native architectures.
Direct experience supporting enterprise healthcare sales teams.
